With the 2020 CYANZ Convention cancelled, the Cretan Brotherhood Youth Committee arranged for the club’s youth members to enjoy a weekend of fun in Melbourne!
CYANZ Youth AGM
On Friday the 8th of January, delegates from Cretan clubs across Australia & New Zealand convened virtually for the 2021 CYANZ AGM. The Cretan Brotherhood was led by Youth President Vasili Berbatakis who reported to attendees the efforts of the Youth Committee over the past 12 months, highlighting a strong focus on keeping the club collaborating and connected, albeit virtually.
Following the CYANZ AGM, the weekend long festivities commenced in beachside St. Kilda, where youth members met to enjoy the sun and experience some of the best nightlife that Melbourne has to offer!
A satisfying meal at the authentic Souvlaki Gr along with a few drinks at the Greek owned Beachcomber had all attendees ready for the rest of the mini convention and excited for the year ahead!
Positively, it was very encouraging to welcome back many old faces to Cretan Youth events.
Saturday Night Out
On Saturday the 9th of January, the Cretan Brotherhood Youth converged on Chapel Street bar ‘Wonderland’ for a drink and a laugh. It wasn’t long before everyone was enjoying themselves and finding the dancefloor.
The street life was exciting, with Chapel Street overflowing with people, however so were the waiting lines outside of venues. While some stuck around on Chapel Street, others ended up with heading nearby to Kinisi at Trak Lounge Bar. There, the vibes were popping as if it were an episode of Στην Υγειά Μας!
It is no convention without a sports day and on Sunday the 10th of January the CBY went to the Northcote Indoor Sports Centre for a round of dodgeball. The teams were split evenly and a few of our dodgeball gurus led the team discussions.
Whether you had a winning throw or copped a ball to the face, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and had fun trying a new sport. Many recommended the youth should continue to organise more fresh idea events like this and we’re sure the 2021 team will deliver!
