On Sunday May 5th the Cretan Brotherhood and the annual Mothers Day Luncheon took place. The event was a combined initiative presented by the Cretan Brotherhood of Melbourne and Victoria and the Patra Club of Melbourne.
It was a beautiful Autumn day and all the mothers and grandmothers were greeted with a glass of champagne and a box of chocolates on arrival. The luncheon comprised of some modern antipasto and entrée dishes followed by traditional roast beef and of course Cretan pilafi. Everyone enjoyed their meals whilst listening to Greek music selected by the DJ and many also danced.
Soon after everyone was drawn to the beautifully decorated dessert buffet for sweets and coffee whilst the committee showered many mums with beautiful raffle prizes together with prizes for the eldest and youngest mothers in the room.
Gifts for the raffle were generously donated and all funds raised from the raffle are being donated to ΕΛΕΠΑΠ, a rehabilitation centre for disabled children in Greece. You can find out more about ΕΛΕΠΑΠ at their website:
Overall it was a lovely afternoon celebrating those important people that brought us into the world.
