Mothers Day celebrations at the Cretan Brotherhood of Melbourne had a different flavour this year.
On Sunday the 16th of May, the Club celebrated mothers by hosting a “High Tea” event for its members, featuring savoury & sweet treats, flowers, games and prizes. All Mothers attending were also welcomed with flowers upon arrival!
The club was very fortunate to have two guest speakers on the day, writer and journalist Dina Gerolymou, and award winning cook book author Ruth Bardis.
Both speakers discussed the contribution of mothers in society and shared their passion for Greek food & poetry. The event also saw a local author of Cretan mantinathes (and club member) Maria Papa share mantinathes about mothers.
The afternoon continued with door prizes, games and an abundance of raffle prizes. Overall it was a very successful afternoon where the space was full of warmth and support for our club whilst celebrating our MUMs!
